Wilhelmina "Willie" Regala

May 1, 1947 — May 1, 2022

Sheboygan

Wilhelmina Castillo Regala was born on May 1, 1947, in Manila, Philippines, to Ricardo and Rosalina (Castillo) Regala. She passed away peacefully on her 75th birthday on May 1, 2022. She loved telling stories about growing up. When her family moved here from the Philippines in 1951, they made the most of what they had, and Willie found the most joy in playing outside barefoot. Eventually, she graduated from college in Detroit, Michigan, and became a Medical Technician. She moved to Harbor Springs, Michigan - a place she loved - and settled down giving birth to her beautiful daughter, Julie. Willie was a dedicated housewife and mother, always cooking and cleaning for Julie and her friends. Willie loved to travel and looked forward to her annual “sisters trips”, which she had countless memories from.

Her final home would be in Sheboygan Wisconsin where she moved to be closer to her daughter and her grandchildren. She met some beloved friends in her apartment building, and they would cook and play games together in the common area. Her grandchildren (Lars, Chloe, Isabelle, and Simone) most looked forward to sleepover weekends at Willie’s (Lola’s). She spoiled them with sweets and television such as Hallmark movies and crime shows they weren’t allowed to watch, and they would always leave with another “Crazy Lola Story.” They would stay up late listening to Willie’s stories about her life and her adventures. She told them that one day she would write a book about her life so that they could have her uninterrupted story laid out in front of them.

Willie always looked after her family day or night. She would clean up their messes, cook them dinner, and do their laundry. She loved coming over to her daughter’s house to see her granddogs Russell and Rosalie and spoil them with treats, recalling memories of her own beloved dogs: Mason and Tau.

Willie was a devout Catholic and 3rd order nun. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Sheboygan.

Willie will forever be remembered by her daughter Julie (Lars III) Nyquist; grandchildren: Lars IV, Chloe, Isabelle, and Simone; sisters: Ely (Kleist), Tessie (Christopher), Percy, Lita Regala, Lourdes Regala; Brothers: Daniel (Edna) Regala, and Alex (Carolyn) Regala; 13 nieces and nephews, 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many more friends and family.

Willie was preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo and Rosalina; and her sister Melinda.

A memorial mass will be held for Willie at 11:00 am on Friday, May 13th, 2022, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. (807 Superior Ave, Sheboygan, WI, 53081)
