St. Cloud

Sharon F. Fenner, 77, of St. Cloud, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Agnesian Health Care, SSM Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.  She was born June 25, 1944 to Allen and Fern (Coller) Smith.  She graduated from Kohler High School in 1962.  On November 27, 1965, she was united in marriage to James W. Fenner.  They have two children, Christine (Nathan Keeney) Fenner and Carla (Brian) Leuck, and one grandchild, Madeline Li Elizabeth Leuck.  While Sharon was continuing her education in the University of Wisconsin system, she was given an opportunity to start an accounting business.  Within the first couple of years it grew substantially and continued from there; her specialty was non-profit.  It gave Sharon the opportunity to work out of her home and to raise their daughters who kept her busy with their many high school activities and their travels back and forth from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of DePaul Law School in Chicago and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Jim and Sharon built their first house in 1968 in Sheboygan Falls and lived there until they built a permanent home at their cottage property at Wolf Lake in Fond Du Lac County in 1996. During her residency in Sheboygan Falls she was asked to be a member of the new board of directors for the development of the YMCA in Sheboygan Falls.  For a period of time, she served as President and then served on the Sheboygan YMCA board.  Sharon also was asked to be on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters and served as President.  After making their permanent home in Fond Du Lac County, she served as Treasurer for several terms on the newly developed Lake Winnebago Quality Improvement Corporation.

Sharon and Jim enjoyed traveling.  After many trips in the U.S., including San Francisco, wine country and several weeks in Hawaii, an opportunity came to travel Europe and they enjoyed Ireland, England, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy and France.  They also enjoyed trips to Costa Rica, Jamaica and other areas of the Caribbean.

Sharon is further survived by her husband Jim of 55 years, three brothers: Jeff (Charleen) Smith, Harold (Mary) Smith, and Dennis (Barb) Smith, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Following Sharon’s wishes, she will be cremated and placed at Kohler Cemetery.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
