Sally L. (Olson) Kretchmer

January 22, 1942 ~ December 28, 2021 (age 79)

Obituary

Sally L. Kretchmer, age 79, of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 28, 2021, at Pine Haven Christian Home – Haven Campus after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Sally was born on January 22, 1942, to Floyd and Lucille (Davidson) Olson in Illinois. After high school, Sally met Bill Kretchmer, and the two were wed on February 3, 1959, in Streator, Illinois. Sally and Bill had three children, Cindy, Mike, and Sue. After the birth of their three children, the family moved to Cleveland, WI, for Bill to pursue a new job and be closer to Sally’s family.

Sally was an avid gardener and had a miraculous green thumb – she could bring anyone’s house plant back to life if it was placed in her care. She had a meticulously kept vegetable and flower garden at her home. Sally was a loving grandmother. She was also a fabulous cook and baker.

Sally and Bill were members of South Side Alliance Church in Sheboygan where she committed her life to Christ. She was active in church as a deaconess and worked in the church nursery for many years.

Sally is survived by her children, Cindy Kretchmer (David Ward) and Sue Kretchmer; grandchildren, Shaina (Andrew) Walvoord, Gabrielle (Taylor) Witt, Abigail, and Rachel Kretchmer; brother, Kent Olson; sisters-in-law, Peggy (Larry) Goldsmith and Karen Christiansen; nieces, Amy (JR) Schuette and Caitlyn Goldsmith; nephew, Bryan (Becky) Olson; other relatives, and friends.

Sally is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, who passed away earlier this year on February 2; her son, Mike; parents, Floyd and Lucille Olson; sister-in-law, Mary Olson; mother-in-law, Grace; stepfather-in-law, Willard; father-in-law, Maynard; and sister-in-law, June Rowe.

A funeral service for Sally will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 12:00 PM with Rev. Jon MacDonald officiating. The funeral service will be live streamed on Sally’s obituary page and viewable at a later date as well. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) in Sally’s name.

Sally’s family would like to thank the staff at Pine Haven Christian Home – Haven Campus, Faith Home and the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
