Carol Kienberger

Carol Mae Kienberger (nee Schwark), 85, formerly of Kiel passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the assisted living facility Songbird Pond  of Plymouth.  She was born on November 30, 1935, the daughter of Albert and Caroline (nee Wilhelm) Schwark.  On September 21, 1957, Carol married Darrel Kienberger Sr.

Throughout her life, Carol worked a variety of jobs in addition to helping out on the family hobby farm.  In her later years, she lived and worked at Cedar Lake where she met many wonderful friends.  She enjoyed reminiscing with them and going on casino bus trips, even traveling to Branson, MO with her extended Cedar Lake family.

Carol was an amazing cook and could whip up a homemade loaf of bread or dinner for an entire army at a moment’s notice.  Her pride and joy where her 8 grandchildren, whom she enjoyed spending time with more than anything.  She loved babysitting for them in their younger years and attending various sporting events and school concerts as they grew older.  She even personalized her license plate to say “Gramma8” in their honor.

Carol is survived by her children Darrel Jr. Kienberger, Sharron (Dan) Niquette, Cindy (Tom) Cain, and Dawn (Randy) Haese; nine grandchildren; Darrel III (Lisa) Kienberger, Amanda (Corey) Mueller, Angela (Nick) Mertens, Tyler (Carrie) Guell, Angelique (Matthew) Wegmann, Caylee (Jacob) Koepsell, Brienne Cain, Brooke (Dustin) Hoftiezer, and Lucas (Alison) Haese; fourteen great-grandchildren and two on the way.  She is also survived by one sister, Beverly Grube, one brother Bobby (Rachel) Schwark, one half-sister Mary Lynn Driggers, one special daughter-in-law, Jean Kienberger, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother; Phyllis Schwark, infant son; Ronald Ricky, two brothers; Sonny Schwark, Raymond Schwark, and one half-brother; Donald Schwark.

Per Carol’s wishes, cremation will take place at Zimmer Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center.  A service will be postponed at this time and a celebration of life will be planned at a future date.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Songbird Pond and Community Care for the wonderful care they provided over the past few years.  A special thank you goes out to her Hospice nurse, Michelle Oostdyke, for the kindness and compassion exhibited during her final days.
