Victor Muehleis

May 12, 1926 — March 14, 2017

Victor E. Muehleis, age 90, went home to his Lord and Saviour at the Sheboygan Retirement Community on Tuesday March 14, 2017. Victor was born May 12, 1926 in Schwaebisch Gmuend,Germany, a son of the late Viktor Emanuel Muehleis and Ernstine Muehleis,nee Kleile.

His primary and higher education took place in Ulm,Germany at the
State School of Commerce. He was also a graduate of the German Military Academy
and continued his education after World War II with a degree in accounting and finance.
Victor was a partner in the Buergel accounting firm in Ulm until 1957.
Victor was married to Ilse H. Benz on May 22, 1948. Victor was an avid fencer, winner
of many national and international championships and a member of the German
national fencing team which qualified for 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Victor and Ilse
emigrated to the United States in 1957 with their six year old son, Peter.

Victor was employed with Zittel Truck & Equipment a division of International Harvester.
He was their accountant and office manager until 1958. Victor and his wife Ilse attended
night classes to become American citizens and obtained their citizenship in 1962.
In 1958 Victor was employed by the accounting firm of Wesley W. Jung as a CPA until
1967.That same year Victor joined Sheboygan Paper Box Company advancing to
president and chairman of the board.

Victor also served as president and chairman of the board of Chilton Globe Company.
Other directorships included VP of Memorial Hospital Health Foundation, Norwest Bank,
First Interstate and Wells Fargo Banks, and the Lakeshore Chapter of the National
Association of Management Accountants.

Victor was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Howards Grove since 1959 and served
on the board of elders under three pastors. Victor treasured his family, his many friends
and most of all his Lord. He loved downhill skiing, tennis, football, equestrian and other
sports.

Survivors include his wife Ilse, son Peter, and grandchildren Michael and Bryan.
In addition to his parents, Victor was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Cheryl.

A Funeral Service will be conducted for Victor on Friday March 17, 2017 at 12 Noon at Trinity Lutheran Church W2776 State Hwy 32, Howards Grove. Pastor Darrel Bergelin will officiate. Friends may call on the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Internment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.
