Veryl Walter Graf

Veryl Walter Graf, 89, of Howards Grove, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Rocky Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on the family farm on June 20, 1933 in Garnet to the late Arno and Lillian (Lindner) Graf.  Veryl attended Garnet Elementary School and graduated from Chilton High School. He then went on to take the 6-week UW short farm course. In 1953 Veryl was drafted into the US Army, where he served in Germany until 1955 as a medic receiving the rank of Cpl.  On August 30, 1958 he was united in marriage to Janet Eileen Just at Ebenezer Evangelical & Reformed Church in Chilton. They celebrated 64 years together. 

Veryl worked for Combination Door in Fond Du Lac, he then went to work for DHIA in Sheboygan County as a Technician and field manager. In 1964 Veryl went to work for the Kohler Company, he started as a brass stock clerk, later moving to the Distribution Center, before becoming a spotter dispatcher at corporate auto and retiring in 1998. After his retirement, Veryl worked parttime at Whistling Straits as a locker room attendant, where he met many Golf Celebrities.

 Veryl enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and golfing. Janet took Veryl on many trips, some of his most memorable were to Australia, Alaska, Aruba, Jamaica, Germany and the Panama Canal.  His family was his pride and joy. He loved spending time watching his grandchildren play in their many sports and other activities. Creating lasting memories with them was his favorite pastime.

Veryl is survived by his wife Janet, son Keith Arno Graf, daughters; Cheryl Lynn (Chuck) Reschke, Gayle Marlene (Tom) Moore, and Melanie Justine (Dan) Cain, grandchildren; Adam (Lisa) Sukowaty, Erin (David) Gunn, Alan Sukowaty, Charlie (Amy) Reschke, Nicholas Reschke, Peter Reschke, Brennen Cain, Taylor Cain, and Trevor Cain, great-grandchildren; Ella and Noah Sukowaty, Carl Gunn, and Reese and Calvin Reschke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Eric Sukowaty, brothers, Charles “Buddy” and Juno Graf, and sister Marlene Emery.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Zimmer Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Rd. Sheboygan, with Rev. Aubree Lynn officiating.  Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 12:00 NOON until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME.  If you are unable to join the family for the service it will be live streamed on Veryl’s obituary page on the funeral home website.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Veryl’s name.
