Thomas P. Hurley set his course for the crossing and sailed to his next destination with his beloved daughters at his side on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
Following a successful career as an employee benefits consultant for many years, he pursued a vocation in the healing arts as a massage and craniosacral therapist.
An accomplished sailor and pilot, he traveled by sea and air and delighted in sharing his knowledge and love of those pursuits with family, friends and colleagues. On land, Tom enjoyed throwing pottery and playing guitar.
Tom was a Navy Veteran, serving three tours in Vietnam as a corpsman, ultimately receiving the Purple Heart for his contribution and dedication. In addition to his Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Tom earned a 2nd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, a Six Pack (OUPV), and a Master Captain‘s license.
Many remember Tom for his amiable sense of humor and quick wit. Friends and family always felt comfortable with Tom at the helm of a boat, a plane, or a go kart. His infectious sense of fun will remain in the memories of his family and friends.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Morgan (Bill) Schwall and Olivia Hurley; granddaughters, Lucy and Hanna Schwall; cousin, Carole Carpenter; and other relatives and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his son, Mika Hurley; parents, Elmer and Velva (Day) Hurley; and sister, Marcia Hurley.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Shake-A-Leg (https://www.shakealegmiami.org/get-involved/donate/donate-now/).
