It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Lee Bentley, Jr. on Sunday, May 31, 2026. He was born on June 28, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas Sr. and Margaret (Libre) Bentley. He married the love of his life, LaVerne Luhmann, on November 16, 1974. Together they raised two sons, Shawn and Darren.

Thomas was known for his strong work ethic. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force. Following his military service, Thomas obtained his bachelor’s degree from UND and relocated to Wisconsin, where he worked for many years and ultimately retired at Kohler Company as Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. Thomas was also an active member of Our Shephard UCC in Howards Grove for many years.

Above all else, Thomas cherished spending time with his family, building furniture, and working on classic cars. He was a helpful neighbor and devoted confidant to many people; Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Thomas is survived by his sons, Shawn (Lindsay) and Darren (Kimberly) Bentley; his grandchildren Elise, Avery, and Remington; and his sister Carol Mannino. He is further survived by extended family members and friends, including companion Gloria Lienhard.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne, and his brother-in-law Salvatore.

Per Thomas’ wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private burial will be held.
