Obituary

Sharon (Sherry) Horness peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026. She was born on May 2, 1943 in Rhinelander, WI, the daughter of the late Philip and Joyce (Karenke) Ingram. Sharon attended and graduated from Eagle River High School. Following high school, she graduated from cosmetology school in Milwaukee, and worked as a beautician until retirement. Sharon married Richard Horness on May 27th, 1967. They were married for 59 years. Together they raised two sons, Daniel and Darren.

Sherry was a devoted mother and cherished grandmother who loved her time with family. When she was younger, she loved hunting and fishing with her dad. She enjoyed doing puzzles and playing board games. She loved all kinds of music, especially 60’s and 70’s country. Sherry and Richard took many memorable trips to the Branson, Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee areas. They loved traveling together and spending time with their family and friends. Sherry will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Aurora Medical Center, especially the CCU nurses and Dr. Connor. Their warmth and compassion for Sherry and her family will not be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband Richard and her two sons: Daniel and Darren Horness, both of Howards Grove; her grandchildren Emily Horness, of Jacksonville, FL, and Michael Horness of Howards Grove; her sisters Phyllis (Daniel) Schultz of Sheboygan; Shelley (Dean) Isleb of Eagle River; and Carmen (Jeffrey) Lewis, also of Eagle River. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Sherry is preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, W2776 WI-32, Howards Grove, WI, on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 4:00 p.m., with Pastor Noah Fremer officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
