Roland "Rolly" E. Koenig

Roland “Rolly” E. Koenig, age 88, of Sheboygan passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 29, 2023. He was born in the Town of Meeme on May 24, 1935, to the late Peter and Anna (Brost) Koenig. He graduated from Kiel High School. On November 22, 1958, Rolly married LuAnn Oehldrich at St. Wendel Parish. He was employed for over 27 years at Schultz Savo (Fresh Brands) as a warehouse operator, retiring in 1997.  He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

Rolly was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing on Long Lake or meticulously maintaining his lawn and garden. He also liked listening and dancing to polka music. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and making many memories. He and his quick-witted humor will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, LuAnn; children, Brenda (Tom Schnicke) Hemb and Brett (Keri) Koenig; grandchildren, Kayla (Dakota) Hunter, Konnor (Taylor Boenisch) Koenig, Julia (Brandon Ringmeier) Koenig and Kyle Koenig; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Along with his parents and in-laws, Walter and Verna Oehldrich, Rolly was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jordin Marie Koenig and nine siblings and spouses.

A Funeral Service for Roland will take place at NOON on Wednesday, January 3, 2023, at Zimmer Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road in Sheboygan, with Pastor Ernie Huntzinger officiating. Family will greet visitors on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Roland will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Kohler.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Roland’s name.

The family would like to thank the Sheboygan County Sheriff Dept., the volunteers of Town of Sheboygan EMT’s, and the emergency medical professionals at St. Nicholas Hospital.
