Roland "Rollie" J. Meyer, 89, a resident of Sheboygan Senior Community, found peace on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Rollie was born February 20, 1928 in St. Anna, WI to the late Oscar and Alma (Freund) Meyer. On October 22, 1949, he married the former LaVerne Stein at St. Gregory Church in St. Nazianz, WI. This past October Rollie and LaVerne celebrated 67 years of marriage together. Together Rollie and LaVerne's family grew to include a daughter, Sandra (Kenneth) Schneider and a son, Michael (Christine Colby) Meyer. Rollie was very proud of his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. Rollie retired from the Kohler Company in 1987, after 37 years of service. After retiring, he began collecting and restoring antiques and soon it became his passion. He was also an avid sportsman and continued to hunt and fish until well into his eighties. One of his greatest joys was to hunt with his son, Mike and grandson, Josh. Besides hunting and fishing, he also enjoyed restoring classic cars, gardening and any activity that took him outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, son and daughter as well as five grandchildren; Ryan Schneider (Keri Grimmer), Joshua (Marianne) Meyer, Aaron (Alais) Fortier-Meyer, Robyn Schneider and Mindy (Brad) Leiterman; eight great-grandchildren, Jadeyn and Addisyn Schneider, Sophia and Amelia Leiterman, Eric and Anton Meyer and Wren and Juniper Fortier-Meyer; one brother, Howard (MaryAnn) Meyer; five sisters-in-law; Pearl Meyer, Shirley Meyer, Ginny (Ray) Schulz, Evelyn (Orlan) Ramaker and Vonnie (Glenn) Hein and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Maurus and Wilbrd Meyer, two sisters; Patricia (Elroy) Buechel and Audrey (Ralph) Menne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 20th, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church (807 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan) with Rev. Matthew Widder as celebrant. Friends may call on Wednesday, at the church, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and the staff at Sheboygan Senior Community, especially Heather, Lynn, Renee, Holly and Deb, for the patience and compassion shown to Rollie.
