Rodney C. Marco, age 93, of Sheboygan, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
Rodney was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was born on April 14, 1933, to George and Elizabeth “Alice” Marco.
Rodney was a hardworking, outdoor-loving man who never seemed to meet someone who did not become his friend. He lived his life as a beautiful example of love, hard work, and dedication.
After serving overseas in the Army, Rodney returned home and met the love of his life, Joanne (Dzwonkowski). They were married on August 1, 1959, in Kohler, WI. For 66 years, Rodney and Joanne walked through life together, building a marriage rooted in love, family, laughter, and a lifetime of memories. Together they raised three sons, Richard “Rich,” Randall “Randy,” and Paul, who brought Rodney great pride, plenty of laughter, and perhaps a few gray hairs along the way.
As they started their life together, Rodney worked at Vollrath before beginning his respected 33-year career with Wisconsin Power and Light. He took pride in his work and a job well done. He carried that same steady commitment into every part of his life.
In retirement, Rodney enjoyed spending time and traveling with Joanne. He also loved going north to his land and cabin in Florence County, where life seemed a little slower and the outdoors brought him joy. Some of his happiest days were spent there enjoying the land and making memories with family. He loved fishing with his friends and family and retelling fish stories in which the fish seemed to grow with each telling.
Rodney was full of wisdom, directions, stories, and laughter. He loved a good meal surrounded by family, and those moments around the table will be some of the memories held closest by those who loved him. His presence brought warmth, comfort, and a sense of home.
Rodney’s life was a gift to his family and to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and the kind of wisdom that will continue to guide his family and friends for years to come.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joanne; his three sons, Richard (Gail) Marco, Randall (Katherine) Marco, and Paul (Carrie) Marco; his grandchildren, Sheena Marco, Rachel (Zachary) Miller, Melissa (Branden) Phillips, and Cody (Emily) Marco; and his great-grandchildren, Jacoby, Jorja, Avea, Teagan, Parker, Liam, Finn, and Olivia. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A service to honor and celebrate Rodney’s life will be held at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home, W2132 Garton Rd in Sheboygan, on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., with Pastor Sean Cornell officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the care, comfort, and compassion shown to Rodney and his family. As Rodney said often, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” While Rodney will be deeply missed, his love, laughter, stories, and wisdom will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
