Robert Jones

Robert (Bob) A. Jones, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on March 12, 2016 surrounded by his family. Bob was born on March 20, 1939, the son of Lucille Brotz Jones and Robert G. Jones. A lifelong resident of Kohler, Bob graduated from Kohler High School in 1957 and received his bachelors degree in Engineering from Montana State University in 1961. After serving in the Marine Corps, he joined the Kohler Company, where he was employed as an engineer for 32 years, retiring in 1995.



In the summer of 1964, while both employed at Kohler, he began dating Betty Leberman. They were married later that year on November 28th. Together they enjoyed traveling with vacations to Mexico, regular trips to California to visit their three children and road trip adventures to many western states. Bob was an avid sportsman, who treasured annual hunting and fishing trips with his wife and friends to Montana, Canada and Grand Marais, Michigan. For over 30 years he and Betty looked forward to pheasant and grouse hunting each Fall with several couples and his beloved hunting dogs. He loved exploring the Wisconsin wilderness, was involved in local trapshooting leagues with Betty and enjoyed sharing his hobby of fly tying with students in local schools.



Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Betty of 51 years, daughter, Lisa (Michael) Bershaw and granddaughter, Claire, of San Diego, CA, daughter, Sheila (Michael) Williams and granddaughter, Georgia, of Irvine, CA, brother, Lance B. Jones, of Rancho Mirage, CA and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille Jones, and son, Gregory M. Jones. The family would like to thank St. Nicholas Home Hospice for their excellent care during his final two weeks, Dr. Warren Brauer, Dr. Louis Coulis and Dr. Sanjay Deshpande for managing his heart condition over the past 20 years, and also the many dear friends who filled his last days with visits and cherished stories.



A memorial service to celebrate Bobs life will be held at Grace United Church of Christ in Kohler on Friday, April 29th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Schroeder officiating.
