Richard West

Richard H. West, 77, of Stevens Point, passed away on Tuesday, March 15,2022, at Countryside Manor in Sheboygan.  He was born May 19, 1944, in Wausau to Harold and Eleanor (Hartwig) West.  Richard graduated from Wittenberg High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of WI Stevens Point.

On August 8, 1970, he was united in marriage to Patricia Bodenbach in West Bend.  Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage and raised two children: Chris (Sue) West, and Wendy (Andy) Williams.

Richard worked for Sentry Insurance for 35 years in their IT department completing his career as a director.  Outside of work he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and the Tuesday night card club. Richard was an extremely talented craftsman, specializing in cabinetry.  His family is going to miss his grilling and sausage making.

He is further survived by his seven grandchildren: Mckenna, Mitchell, and Michael West, Nathan, Haley, Hannah, and Katie Williams, by his twin brother Ray (Pat) West, brother Roger (Andrea) West and sister Joanne Mills, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother LeRoy (Kathy) West, and brother-in-law Bill Mills.

Per Richard’s wishes private family services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either Sharon S. Richardson Hospice of Sheboygan or the Alzheimer’s Association in Richard’s name.
