Reinhard L. Palm

Reinhard L. (Reinie) Palm, age 94, passed away peacefully on June 10th, 2025 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in Plymouth, Wisconsin with his granddaughter Kristy (List) Hopkins at his side.

He was born on January 3rd, 1931 in Breslau, Germany to Alois and Betty Palm. He came to the US in 1950 as a farm exchange student in the first revival of the program since the war, living and working on the Harvey and Luella (Machut) Kaestner farm in Sheboygan Falls. He attended Plymouth High School and graduated in 1951. It was there he met Joyce Wordell. They married in 1953 and had four children, the late Jayne (Brian) List, Wayne (Cindy) Palm, Bob (Patty) Palm and Brian (Allie) Palm. Joyce preceded him in death on September 18, 2010. His three siblings, Ingetraud, Werner and Hans, also preceded him. He very proudly had 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He served his adopted country in the US Army/Army Reserve from 1953 to 1961. He worked at Hayssen Manufacturing for 18 years, working his way up to National Service Manager, before buying Sheboygan Auto Supply and later opening Palm’s Power Center in Howards Grove.

Reinie was a dedicated and active member of Elk’s Lodge #299 in Sheboygan, eventually becoming the Elk’s Wisconsin State President. He loved Elkdom. He was also a devout and active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Sheboygan, and very much enjoyed volunteering for the Sheboygan Athletic Club.

His funeral service will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Avenue, Sheboygan on Wednesday, June 25th at 1:00 o’clock, with visitation from 11:00 o’clock until the time of service. The family would also like to thank the caring staff at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center for the care he received while there.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Elk’s National Foundation in Reinie’s name by going to Elks.org and choosing the Elks National Foundation dropdown.
