Nancy Kay Bernhardt, 79, of Howards Grove, passed away peacefully at home, on October 30, surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on July 30, 1946 to the late Wallace and Annice (Schockley) Maass. She graduated from Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua with the Class of 1964. She united in marriage with Harold Bernhardt Jr. on November 18, 1972 in Sheboygan.
Nancy owned and operated a child care business for many years. Before her retirement in 2017, she worked as the manager of the cleaning crew at Curt G. Joa. A proud collector of owls and chickens, her home was filled with the warmth and charm of her favorite treasures. Nancy was an avid sports fan who loved cheering for the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers.
Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She especially cherished the annual family vacations “up north,” where she could relax by the lake, and her Sunday family gatherings, which were always a highlight of her week.
Nancy is survived by her children Tom Arentz, Dariel (Mike) Lambrecht, Tisha Wimmer, and T Jay (Heather) Bernhardt; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers Wallace (Leoni) Maass and Steve (Carol) Maass; special in-laws Betty and Karen; special friends Josie, Roger, Joy, Mike and Bonnie.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Harold Bernhardt Jr.; her parents Wallace and Annice Maass; and brother-in-law Dan Bernhardt.
