Town of Sheboygan

Leslie “Les” R. Rahn, Town of Sheboygan, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at his home – the same house that he was born in 82 years ago.

On June 10, 1940, Les was born on the family farm outside of Sheboygan to Alfred and Viola (Barts) Rahn. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1958, and later took the Farm Short Course at UW-Madison. Les joined the US Army Reserves and served from 1957-1964. On June 27, 1964, Les was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judy Neumann, at St. James UCC in Spring Valley, WI. In 1965, Les and Judy purchased the family farm from his parents and continued their legacy as the fourth generation of dairy farmers on the farm that was originally purchased in 1883.

Les was a father figure and mentor to many of the neighborhood boys.

When he was younger, he played guitar in his country-western/polka band and taught guitar lessons.  Leslie was involved in many organizations throughout his lifetime, including the National and Wisconsin Holstein Associations, DHIA Board, Sheboygan Falls Co-op Board, Genex Board, Land O’ Lakes Delegate, Town Park and Planning Commission, Dairy Shrine, Outstanding Young Farmer for Sheboygan County, 4-H Leader for Mosel Farm & Home, Deacon at the Sheboygan eFree Church under Pastor Mooney, and gave public school farm tours for Sheboygan Grade Schools. He enjoyed being a member of the German Concordia Singing Society. Les and Judy hosted the 2004 ‘Breakfast on the Farm.’ In 1988, they hosted a Hymn Sing on the Farm in the shed with music and Dick B. preached. They also hosted a Russian Ag. Group who toured the farm in the mid 1970s.

Les will forever be missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Judy; son, Lee (Heidi) and their children, Naomi (Kevin Zimmerman) and Caleb (Libby); son, Roger (Patty) and their children, Rick (Ashley) and Andrew (Rebekah); daughter, Rebecca (Rob) Motsinger and their children, Vienna, Marissa, and Lathy; son, Dan (special friend, Kim); son, Jim (Monica) and their children, Isabel, Ashley, Matthew, and Jonathan;  siblings, Irene (Jim) Worminghaus, Al (Judy) Rahn, Eldon Rahn, and Ginny Genske; brothers-in-law, Lyle Schoenfeld and Nathan (Diane) Neumann; sisters-in-law, Lois (Mike) Walsdorf and Carol (Jim) Keuter; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Les was preceded in death by daughter, Sarah Rahn; parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Helen (Bohlman) Neumann; sisters, Deloris Schoenfeld and Dorothy (Don) Fischer; sisters-in-law, Kathy Rahn, and Char Rahn; brother-in-law, Larry Genske; and other relatives and friends.
