Keith Horness

August 30, 1985 — January 2, 2018

Keith Brandon Horness, age 32, of Mobile, AL and formerly of Sheboygan, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 2, 2018. He was born in Sheboygan on August 30, 1985 to Thomas and Leslie Horness. Keith attended Sheboygan schools and was involved in athletics. After briefly attending U.W. Milwaukee, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a Loadmaster. Keith was deployed to Afghanistan and Qatar. He was stationed in Beloxi, MS where he met his wife, Ximena Velasquez . She shared in some of Keith's travels and they were stationed in Germany, where their son Thomas Garnett Horness was born. Keith often asked Ximena how someone from the jungle (Colombia) and a guy from a little town got to be together. They believed they were soulmates. From Ximena: "I thank God for putting you in my life. You gave me the best of you, unconditional love, made me part of your family and gave me Thomas, my ‘mini Keith.' You will always be the light of our lives."

Keith and Ximena shared a common interest in community service, something Keith learned from his mother as a child delivering Meals on Wheels. Keith's extensive family members were extremely important to him and he loved them dearly. Keith loved to bird hunt, golf and water ski at the family cottage in Three Lakes, WI.

Keith is survived by his wife, Ximena Velasquez; son, Thomas Horness; parents, Tom and Leslie Horness; 2 siblings: Megan and Zachary Horness; grandparents: Keith and Chris Garnett, Elaine and David Kamper and Patricia Horness. Further survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Keith was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert R. Horness and cousins Robby Horness and Nicholas Luecke.

Family and friends are invited to visit at First United Lutheran Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Dr, Sheboygan, on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. A Celebration of Keith's life will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Todd Smith officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the Thomas Garnett Horness Education Fund or Meals on Wheels in Keith's name.

Keith struggled for many years with substance abuse and depression. These struggles in no way defined who he was as a person, nor prevented him from being a great human being and loving others. Keith's family encourages others experiencing these problems to not be ashamed and to seek help. You are not alone in your struggles, and there is help available.
With love from the Horness family.
