Karen Mary Salm, 62, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on May 5, 2026. She was born on August 6, 1963, to Joseph and Mary Ann (Bogenschuetz) Gries in Sheboygan, WI.

Karen was united in marriage to David Salm on October 30, 1982 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Osman, WI. Together, they raised their children and built a loving family, richly blessed with many grandchildren and countless joys.

Karen worked as an administrative assistant for Howards Grove High School and the Sheboygan Area School District for many years. Karen had a special way of connecting with the students she worked with—many saw her as a second mom, always offering kindness, support, and a listening ear.

She treasured time with her family above all else and made it a priority to be present whenever she could. She never missed any occasion and was present at every program, game, and special event—always there with unwavering support, proudly encouraging all the children and grandchildren as their biggest cheerleader. Karen was also a devoted and loyal friend who valued time spent with those close to her, creating lasting memories.

She is survived by her husband, David Salm; her children, Amy (Sam) Clark of Sheboygan, Tim (Jeanelle) Salm of Appleton, and Heidi (Ryan) Benning of Rock City, Illinois; and her cherished grandchildren, Mason, Trevor, Lydia, Sarah, Isaiah, Levi, Wyatt, Connor, Norah, Brynlee, Easton, and Micah. She is also survived by her sisters, Geri Brendel and Diane Kress; her brother, Robert (Linda) Gries; and many extended family members and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Donald Salm; her sisters, JoAnn Meves and Beatrice (Wally) Meyer; her brother, Joseph Gries; her brother-in-law, Larry Brendel; and grand-daughter Autumn Salm.

A visitation will take place at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home, W2132 Garton Rd. Sheboygan, WI 53081, starting at 1:00 p.m on Saturday, May 9, 2026. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Steven M. Bettag, his staff, and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to a charity of choice in Karen’s name.

Karen will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
