Karen G. Maxey

Karen G. Maxey, 79, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center, Sheboygan surrounded by family. Karen was born on December 24, 1943 in Algoma, WI, to the late Ralph (Evelyn) and Grayce (Post) Haack. On April 16, 1983, she married Jack Maxey, Sr.

She enjoyed the patients she cared for at Morningside as a nursing assistant for 13 years. For over 23 years Karen also worked as a professional seamstress at Anthony Corporation. Karen loved sewing, at work she sewed drapery and tailored military uniforms. In 1997 Karen branched out on her own and started her own business, Karen Sewing & Alterations.

Karen loved crafts; decorating for weddings and the holidays; and flowering both planting and arranging.

She is survived by her loving husband Jack; daughters, Diana Dodge, Evelyn (Angel) Dodge and Barbara (Rick) Dodge-Kunstman; 9 grandchildren, Nathan (Ashley) Dodge, Deaven (Megan) Dodge, Brianna Dodge, Anthony (Jenn) Jacoby, Nichole Zelko, Jeffrey Zelko, Ricky Jr. Kunstman, Maria Kunstman and Cody (Emily) Marco; 12 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Aiyanna, Nadia, Matt, Aiyana, Fury, Leena, Lincoln, Arerith, Aymeric, Baby Chapman and Ryder; 3 brothers, Fritz, Allen, and Ralph Jr. (Mary) Haack; 4 sisters, Anita Kaquatosh, Donna Haack, Jean Haack, and Sue Haack; and many other relatives and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; former husband William Dodge, Sr.; son William Dodge, Jr.; sisters Eva Wilbur, Linda Annamitta and Elsie Ashenette and beloved dog Molly.

A memorial service for Karen will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Rd, Sheboygan, WI 53083.  Friends and relatives may come and “make a memory” with the family at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
