Karen Lyndall Berglund

September 14, 1941 — January 23, 2026

Sheboygan

Karen Lyndall Berglund, age 84, passed away with her loving family by her side on Friday, January 23, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born on September 14, 1941 to the late Ronald and Margaret (Schoch) Hubbard in Groton, South Dakota. She was a graduate of Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, South Dakota with a major in Art. On April 13, 1963, she married the love of her life, David, and together they raised three daughters, Amy, Laurie and Julie. Karen was employed by Emmons-Napp Office Products for many years and then was an educational assistant with the Sheboygan Area School District until her retirement.

Karen was strong in her faith, and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Sheboygan for over 50 years where she made many lifelong friends. She was an alto in the choir, taught Sunday school and VBS, and used her creative talents designing banners and posters for many church events. She loved ice skating in her younger years, and even held the title of queen for the 1959 Groton Carnival of Silver Skates. She was a talented artist and loved all animals, especially her cats. Above all, Karen loved her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Karen is survived by her daughters Amy (Ed) Kirchenwitz, Laurie (Mark) Orsted, Julie (Judy Harshman) Berglund; grandchildren Becky (Nick) Barritt, Andrea (Austin) DeFrance, Ellis (Desiree) Kirchenwitz, and Caitlyn Hills; great-grandchildren Logan, Landon, Jasper, Cooper, Adalynn and Jack; sisters-in-law Eileen Berglund and Kathy Hubbard; brother-in-law Kay Cutler; nieces, nephews, cousins and her close childhood friends, Corinne and Carol.

In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her husband David, sister Theone Cutler, brother Terrance Hubbard, father- and mother-in-law Elmer and Myrtle Berglund, brother-in-law Duane Berglund, granddaughter Jeni (Jae) Hills, and many other relatives and friends.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic who treated her like family and pampered her at what she liked to call her “spa days”. We would also like to thank the staff of Lakehouse Sheboygan and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of our mom. We appreciate the attention and kindness extended not only to our mom but to our whole family during such a difficult time.

A private family service will be held at a later date per Karen’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church or the Humane Society of Sheboygan County.
