Joyce Patricia Feldbusch Holzer, age 98, passed away peacefully at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Joyce was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on July 4, 1928, to Nelda Ebeling Feldbusch and John Feldbusch at her grandparent Ebeling’s home. During her childhood, her family lived in several places, including Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Kansas City, Missouri, before returning to Sheboygan during World War II. While living in Kansas City at age 15, Joyce had her first job at a soda shop, a place she spoke of often throughout her life. After the family returned to Sheboygan, they moved just a few doors down from her Uncle Cal’s grocery store. At age 16, Joyce began working in his grocery store, beginning a connection to the grocery business that would continue throughout her working life. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Sheboygan. Joyce graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1946. Joyce was also a member of the Sisters’ Circle at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, where she shared in the fellowship and friendships that were an important part of her life. After meeting her “Knight In Shining Armor” dancing at a family wedding, Joyce married Kenneth “Ken” Holzer on June 11, 1949, at St. Paul’s UCC. Kenny and Joyce continued to be members of St. Paul’s UCC throughout their married lives. After Ken and Joyce married and welcomed their first child, Joyce began her long career with Piggly Wiggly Schulz Sav-O Stores, Inc. She retired in 1987 after 21 years of employment.
Joyce enjoyed being a Brownie Scout leader for all her daughters, as well as a choir mother, room mother, and being very active in the PTA at James Madison Elementary School. Joyce had a special love for beauty, fashion, and personal style and enjoyed sharing that special part to create memories with her family. Joyce and Ken loved to travel together, notably Hawaii and China, numerous bus trips, and visiting Nashville and N.C. While she loved traveling, she spent countless hours in her kitchen canning and preserving and making delicious dinners and desserts for her family and friends. No one ever left Joyce’s kitchen hungry. Joyce was part of a group of grade-school and high-school friends who formed a special bond and created a lasting friendship for more than eight decades. These ladies were known as the “Club Ladies.” They lived life with the motto that “we may not have it all together, but together we have it all.” Joyce was the second-to-last surviving member of this cherished group.
Joyce’s life spanned 98 years filled with family, faith, friendship, travel, and treasured traditions. She leaves behind a legacy of love reflected in the generations of family who survive her, the friendships she nurtured for more than eight decades, and the countless memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who knew and loved her.
Joyce is survived by her children: Renee, Randy, Rochelle and Rhonda. Renee Holzer Koschak (Matt) of Pfafftown, NC; Randy Holzer (Mary Jo) of Sheboygan Falls, WI; Rochelle Holzer Uhlig (Karl) of Clemmons, NC; and Rhonda Holzer Holland (former Bob) of Kohler, WI. She will be lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren: Zachary Holzer (Becky) of Sheboygan Falls, WI; Abigail Holzer Mazza (Joe) of Kohler, WI; Maggie Holzer Wallis (Ryan) of Fort Polk, LA; Monika Uhlig-Mitchell (Marc-deceased) of Clemmons, NC; Max Uhlig (Angele) of Raleigh, NC; Robert “Bobby” Holland of Los Angeles, CA; and Alexander Holland of Sheboygan, WI. She is further survived by eight great-grandchildren: Isabella Holzer, Mathias Holzer, Jack Holzer, Mary Mazza, Rory Wallis, Magdalene Wallis, Ransom Wallis, and Liam Uhlig. Also left to cherish her memory is her dear friend Dorothy Koene, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other dear friends.
She was preceded in death 55 days ago by her husband, Ken; an infant son, Kenneth K. Holzer; her parents, John and Nelda Ebeling Feldbusch; her in-laws, Carl and Rose Brack Holzer; her sister, Carol Feldbusch Konrad (Mike); and an infant brother, John Jr. “Sonny” Feldbusch. She was also preceded in death by the “Club Ladies” Gert Sievers, Mary Stueber, Mary Leach, and Laurie Hartig.
A visitation will be held at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home, W2132 Garton Rd, Sheboygan, on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Fr. David Beaudry officiating. A Celebration of Life for Joyce will follow the service.
