John “Dallas” Anderkin, age 89, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
He was born in Kentucky December 1, 1936 to the late John and Sarah Vaughn Anderkin.
After 21 years of dedicated service in the United States Army, he retired as a Sergeant First Class. While in the Army, he served 2 tours in Vietnam. Dallas received 6 Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Meritorious Unit Citation.
He is survived by his wife Cathy, and his children: Dallas E (Tezza) Anderkin, Sarah (Mike) Abhold, Stacy (Nate) Miller, and Krista (Nick) Salm. He is further survived by his granddaughters: Julie (Nik) Aschenbach, Madison and Kiersyn Miller, and his grandsons: Damian, Nick, and Paul (Rachel) Brandon, Kohwen Anderkin, David and Billy Schmitt, Carson and Hudson Miller, and Mason and Eli Salm. He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Dallas was predeceased by his parents, a daughter Tammy Anderkin, a son Paul Anderkin, and a granddaughter Aimee Jo Anderkin.
A Celebration of Life for Dallas will be held on August 29, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. until noon with full military honors at Memorial Park, 406 N River Parkway, Howards Grove WI.
Dallas’ family would like to thank the caring staff at St. Nicholas Hospital ICU and 4th floor nursing staff, along with the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care.
