Janet N. Dorsey

Sheboygan

Janet N. (nee Ehle) Dorsey passed away on August 20, 2025, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Janet was born on March 2, 1946, to Robert and Vera Ehle in Rockford, Illinois. She attended Rockford schools, graduating from East High School with the class of 1964.

Janet furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education and a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science. While at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Janet met her husband, John. They were married on March 22, 1969, and made their home in Sheboygan, Wisconsin where they raised two sons, Jeffrey and Robert.

Janet taught Family and Consumer Education and Special Education for over 30 years in the Sheboygan Area School District. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and served as a Deacon. Janet was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in both Wisconsin and Illinois. She served the organization locally as Worthy Matron and at the state level as a Grand Officer. Janet was also a 50-year member of the Association of Home and Community Education. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed playing Mah Jongg and designing table settings for the Rahr-West Museum in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis. She is survived by her husband, John, sons Jeffrey (Mark Webb) of Minneapolis, MN and Robert of Mebane, NC, and her cousin Eleanor Jephcote of Rockford, IL.

A gathering to honor the life of Janet will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Frist Presbyterian Church, located at 1429 N 5th St., Sheboygan, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. An Eastern Star Service will begin promptly at 1:30 PM, followed by a special time of hymn singing, featuring some of Jan’s favorite hymns. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rockford, Illinois.
