Elizabeth “Libi” Jeanne Churchill, age 63, entered into everlasting life on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. She was born on November 15, 1962 in Omaha, Nebraska to Richard and Phyllis (Gilmore) Bloedel. She was a 1981 graduate of Waukesha South High School. On April 19, 1986, she married the love of her life, Jonathan “Jon” Churchill and together they raised three children: Chad, Shelby, and Dana.
While attending school Libi developed her love of cooking and sewing with expert guidance from her mother Phyllis and grandmother Merl Dean (Nonnie). Libi also enjoyed swimming during the summer and watching her brother Jim play baseball and tennis.
Libi held a close and special bond with her mother Phyllis. They were often adventure partners while traveling, either visiting family in Nebraska, hunting down a new quilt store, or revisiting a favorite sewing shop. Together they spent time with their grandkids, completed shopping missions, or just "pulling a Laker".
Libi’s most treasured role was as a mother. Her love and dedication to her family showed in two amazing ways. First, her commitment to watching many basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball games and track meets. Second, her ability to always keep “the home fires burning” with a hot, freshly cooked meal, or an especially thought-out snack or “meal on the run” that was always an important part of the day. She enjoyed the friendships made with other sports families. Libi loved the memories of watching the girls compete in high school and collegiate basketball games, especially together at the State Basketball tournament, and Chad running at State and the National Championship Track Meets.
Libi was a beloved grandmother who welcomed seven grandchildren in five years which quickly multiplied the love and the noise of family gatherings. Libi enjoyed taking the grandkids to parks, museums, and she always had a fun craft up her sleeve to make.
Libi was creative in the kitchen, always whipping up a new dessert or trying a viral recipe and had a passion for quilting that resulted in many quilts and baby blankets made and gifted. Libi enjoyed traveling to Nebraska to visit family, spending time at Road America, trips to Zoos and gathering with family for ‘snacks on the deck’ while Jon would grill beer brats.
Libi was a kind and generous soul who enjoyed giving back to her community. She worked at RCS Empowers, Inc. for a time, cooking meals for individuals with disabilities before she and her husband Jon started a local business in the downtown Sheboygan area, “Not Just Soccer.” The business is still thriving today, over 20 years thanks in part to Libi’s sewing skills. Her expert precision guided the adornment of letter jackets for the area's high schools, allowing countless students to proudly display their academic, athletic, and musical achievements. Libi will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Libi is survived by her husband, Jon, and their children and grandchildren: Chad (Kyra) Churchill (Warren and Wells), Shelby (Christian) Schnell (Lena and Etta), and Dana (Ryan) Fischer (Hallie, Mae and Chase); her mom Phyllis Gilmore; brother Jim (Clair) Bloedel. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Richard, Jon’s parents Ruth and Warren Churchill, her grandmother Merl Dean Gilmore, and her Uncle Steven Voris.
A celebration of Libi’s life will take place at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home, W2132 Garton Rd., Sheboygan, on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 3:00 -5:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Beth Petzke officiating.
Burial will be private.
