Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Oonk, 72, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at Sharon S. Richardson surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Manitowoc to the late Clarence and Edna Kunz, Betty lived a life filled with joy, grace, and deep affection for the people and things she cherished most. Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest happiness came from time spent with her children and grandchildren. Betty took tremendous pride in her home, and it was always warm, welcoming, and filled with laughter. Her home was a space that felt safe, beautiful, and full of heart.
Betty spent over 40 years balancing her career at Kohler Company with managing the Oonk family. Upon her retirement she was able to immerse herself in doing the other things she loved. Her dogs, first Maggie and then Macie and Minnie. They were always nearby if not on her lap.
She found great peace and pleasure in her beloved flower garden. With a keen eye for color and beauty, she tended her yard each season, creating a vibrant sanctuary for the birds she loved to watch. It brought joy to her and to everyone who visited.
She loved the game of golf. Not so much the game but she loved the camaraderie of her golf friends, and the satisfaction of a well-played round. Many of her fondest memories were made on the course, where she formed lasting friendships.
Betty embraced the opportunity to explore new places. Whether it was a road trip to see family, a beach vacation, a month of snow birding, or an overseas adventure, she approached each journey with excitement and curiosity. She loved sharing stories and photos from her travels, always encouraging others to experience the world.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Jamie Kueck (Aaron), Jeff Oonk (Amy), and Scott Oonk; and her beloved grandchildren, Addilyn, Bennett, Owen, Ryan, Josh, and Estelle. Her brothers Richard and Gary (Connie) Kunz, sisters Diane (Leroy) Free, Judy (Dick) Vnuk and Mary Wondrash, sisters-in-law Cindy Oonk and Mary Kunz. Many nieces and nephews. There are a multitude of dear friends from her work family, her golf community and beyond. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James Kunz; sister Margaret Kunz; brother-in-law Charlie Wondrash and a sister-in-law Monica Kunz.
A private family service for Betty will be held at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life for Betty will take place at Town & Country, W1943 Cty Rd J in Sheboygan, on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to the Sheboygan Humane Society or Sharon S. Richardson Hospice where she spent her final days.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the excellent care shown to Betty.
Betty will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a loyal friend, devoted to her dogs, a passionate gardener, an enthusiastic traveler, and a woman who truly savored the simple and beautiful things in life. Her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will live on in everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
