Edna Heiden

Edna Heiden, 101, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, and was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior and reunited with her dear husband, Herbert.

She was born on June 24,1924 to Fred and Grace (Ubbelohde) Lau. She graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1942 and from the University of WI, Whitewater in 1946.

After graduating from college, she taught business education in Mishicot, WI for two years.

She married Herbert Heiden in 1948, they lived on a small farm in Plymouth, WI. They were members of the Plank Road Salem UCC Church. In 1975, they moved to Sheboygan and became members of Ebenezer UCC.

She spent the early years of her marriage as a stay-at home mom; returning to teaching part-time in Sheboygan Falls in 1962. She attended evening classes and returned to Whitewater during the summer to earn her Master’s Degree.

In 1967 she began teaching full time in the Sheboygan School System first at North High and then moved to South High, retiring in 1986.

Herb and Edna enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. They traveled in all of the 48 lower states and Alaska, which was one of their favorite tours. They also enjoyed a Caribbean Cruise and a steamship ride on the Mississippi River. In the early part of their retirement, they spent part of the winter at St. Peter’s Beach in Florida. Over the years, they also attended 20 week-long Elderhostel’s (Senior study program) at different locations.

She is survived by her children: Steven (Billie) of Texarkana, TX and Marjorie (Robert) Brown of Marana, AZ. Two grandsons: Christopher (Dr. Tisha) Heiden and Eric (Laurie) Heiden and two great-grandchildren: Nichole and Elliot.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Herbert Heiden; son Howard Heiden; daughter-in-law Marilyn Heiden; seven brothers: Clifford, James, Edward, Otto, Walter, Alfred, and Clarence Lau and her sister Doris Kalmerton.

Edna very much enjoyed her family and many friends.
