Delores Angela Wesener (nee Wagner), age 91, found her eternal peace on August 5, 2016 after a short illness.
Delores, the first of 11 children, was born in Town Mosel in 1924 to Carl and Leona Wagner. She was united in marriage with Melvin Wesener on October 19, 1946.
Delores and Melvin raised their family in Town Meeme and moved to Sheboygan in 1992. Delores was employed at the Garton Toy Co. In 1980, she proudly earned her GED. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and throughout the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii. This year, Delores celebrated thirty years as a cancer survivor and was an inspiration to others.
Delores was a member of many Sheepshead card clubs, some of which met once a month for decades. She also enjoyed playing cards with her children, grandchildren and other family members. She was a charter member of the Cleveland VFW Auxiliary 8974, serving as secretary for 45 years and a member of the Franklin American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Bank, the Sheboygan County Food Pantry, Golden Living Nursing Home, the Sheboygan St. Vincent DePaul store and had served as treasurer of the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Dominic's church.
Over the years, Delores sewed hundreds of lap robes that she donated to the Mississippi Sacred Heart Mission and area nursing homes. Innumerable baby blankets and quilts were sown and given with love to family members and friends.
Delores enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was able to travel to visit them until very recently. She was known for her delicious German potato salad and even more delicious peanut squares.
Survived and loved by daughters Barbara Ann Wesener (the late Lee Toms,) Lois Wesener (Drew Kennedy,) Karen Wesener (Lee Keith) all of Milwaukee, Corinne Demler (Terry) of Sheboygan Falls and son Steven (Angela) Wesener of Rib Falls; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; brothers Clement (Bonnie) Wagner of Howard Grove, Lee Roy (Marlene) Wagner of Milwaukee, Jerome (Mary Jo) Wagner of Lakeland, FL, Cletus (Nancy) Wagner of Cleveland, sisters Florence Jetzer of Sheboygan and Sylvia Silberberg (William) of Lincoln, CA, sister-in-law Mary Lou Wagner of Sheboygan. Also, survived by extended family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Melvin, her husband of nearly 46 years, daughter Christine, grandsons Ian and Jonathan, sisters Anna Ceil and Sr. Veronica, brothers Adrian and Charles. Also, sisters-in-law June Wagner, Dorothy Wesener, Marian Lorenz; brothers-in-law Wilfred Jetzer, Marvin Wesener and Walter Lorenz.
The family thanks the staff at SunnyRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center and Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for their compassionate care.
Mom gave her children the gift of strong roots and mighty wings. She will be dearly missed.
A time of visitation and support will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home, Sheboygan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Sheboygan, by Rev. Phil Reifenberg with visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial is being established in her name.
