Obituary

Cynthia “Cindy” Joy Strong, age 72, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and lifelong friend.

Cindy was born on January 7, 1954, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, to the late Morgan and Emma (Schwengels) Martin. Her parents brought her to God's house in Holy Baptism at Triune Lutheran Church in Sharon Township, Wisconsin, on March 7, 1954. She later confirmed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior at Triune on May 26, 1968, a faith that remained the foundation of her life.

On June 12, 1976, Cindy married the love of her life, William "Bill" Strong. Together they shared many blessings until Bill's passing on October 26, 2015. Their greatest treasures were their daughters, whom they lovingly brought to be baptized at Concordia Lutheran Church in Machesney Park, Illinois.

Cindy found great joy in the fellowship of God's people and devoted much of her life to serving her church. She taught toddler Sunday school, participated in Project Compassion by visiting elderly shut-ins, and faithfully served in numerous congregational groups and ministries. Cindy enjoyed the truth in scripture and faithfully studied in many different bible studies over the years.

Cindy was an avid book reader and sharer. She enjoyed attending craft fairs with friends, watching the Green Bay Packers, and traveling to see her grandchildren. Above all, family was very important to her and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She graduated from Delavan-Darien High School and went on to attend the Swedish American Hospital School of Nursing. After completing the three-year diploma program, she graduated on May 11, 1975, and became a Registered Nurse after passing her boards in October 1975. Nursing was more than a profession to Cindy; it was a calling that she thoroughly loved. She began her career at Beloit Hospital in Beloit, Wisconsin, before transitioning to clinic nursing, where she worked alongside many internists and family practice physicians throughout the years. Among those, she especially cherished her time working with Dr. Kathleen Kelly and Dr. Jose Salazar.

Cindy is lovingly survived by her daughters, Heather (Dan) Winter of Sheboygan, and Christine (Nathan) Fiebke of Rhinelander and by her beloved grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Winter, and Liesel, Gretchen, and Kerstin Fiebke.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Richard (Patricia) Martin, Barbara Falk and Joyce (Ollie) Quirk; her in-laws, William (Alice) Strong and a sister-in-law, Carol Willyard.

A Christian Funeral Service for Cindy will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1810 N 13th St, Sheboygan, WI 53081. Family will greet visitors on Saturday, at the church, from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Cindy will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc, WI. For those who would like to attend Cindy’s service virtually can do so on her obituary page on the funeral home website.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Cindy’s name.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and caregivers for the care and compassion shown during Cindy’s journey.
