Clement “Clem” F. Wagner, 98 years 3 months and 7 days, of Howards Grove passed away peacefully in his sleep with his loving wife by his side on Friday, March 1, 2024 at home. He was born November 23, 1925 in the Town of Mosel to the late Carl and Leona (Herr) Wagner. Clem attended St. Fidelis School in Spring Valley. On October 23, 1965 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Coerper at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Stevens Point. Together Clem and Bonnie celebrated 58 years of marriage. He had a special love for his entire family, appreciating the time spent together.
Clem was a proud but humble veteran having served in the US Army from 1954-1956. He was a 39-year member of the Franklin American Legion Post 387, holding the position of Sergeant at Arms for many years. He faithfully marched in many Memorial Day parades in Howards Grove and the Town of Rhine.
Following the service to his country, Clem worked for Gabe’s Construction, Vollrath Company, Hayssen Manufacturing, and EnzoPac, retiring in 1988.
As a faith-filled Catholic he served as Eucharistic Minister at St. Dominic Catholic Church for many years, volunteered with the parish Fall Festival and the usher’s brat fry. In his quiet way of leading by example, he greeted others with his smile. He was a kind-hearted man and befriended many people throughout his lifetime. He took great pride in his yearly harvest from his gardens and many fruit trees. Clem was a well-seasoned sheepshead player, always ready for a game and an avid sports fan, enjoying many Packers and Brewers games on the radio or TV.
Clem is survived by his wife Bonnie, five children Henry (Michelle) Wagner, Paula (Donny) Mueller, Donna Landwehr, Rita (Tim) Steffen, Richard (Elicia) Wagner; ten grandchildren Dylan Hanneman (fiancée Heidi Steckel), Kathryn Wagner, Grace Wagner, Brian Mueller (fiancée Molly Carrig), Diana Mueller (fiancée Evan Skroch), Christopher Mueller, Amanda Landwehr, Larry (Danielle) Landwehr, Ivon Steffen, and Nathanael (Kayla) Wagner; four great-grandchildren Paislee Bertino, Berkley Landwehr, Everly Landwehr, and Rodey Landwehr; the fifth great-grandchild is expected in July; siblings Sylvia (Bill) Silberberg and Cletus (Nancy) Wagner, and sister-in-law Mary Jo Wagner.
