Barbara J. Klaves

Barbara J. Klaves, age 77, of Cleveland passed away to her eternal home with Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 20, 2026.

She was born in Sheboygan on August 26, 1948, to the late Robert and Betty (Madson) Welsch Sr. She graduated from Sheboygan South High School and attended Lakeshore Technical College. On November 19, 1966, Barbara was united in marriage to Niles Klaves. Barb was a stay at home mom, serving her husband and children.

Barb was involved in numerous volunteering opportunities: childrens’ ministries at church, Cleveland Garden Club, Sheboygan County Master Gardeners, Bookworm Gardens and Great Marriages of Sheboygan. Barb had a passion for learning and teaching, leading numerous ladies’ bible studies, mentoring ladies & homeschooling. She pursued studies in essential oils, medicinal herbs, nutrition and foods, Biblical counseling and marriage mentoring. Barb enjoyed traveling, visiting family, national parks, caves & historic sites. She also devoted time to sewing, hiking, biking, camping, reading, cooking and baking.

Barb is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Niles Klaves; children, Abby (Jimmy) Speyer of Nolensville, TN, Elise (Dan) St. Michael of Willmar, MN and Dale (Shelly) Klaves of Bayside; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Kathy) Welsch, James (Bonnie) Welsch and Robert (Jen) Welsch Jr.; nieces, nephews, other friends and family.

Along with her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Klaves.

A Funeral Service for Barb will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, 1710 N 15th St. in Sheboygan with Pastor Jon MacDonald officiating. Family will greet visitors on Thursday at church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
