Ardell Kiehl, nee Kolberg, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017, one day short of her 94th birthday. Ardell was born August 14, 1923 in Sheboygan to Arthur and Olga (Kraatz) Kolberg. She attended Grant School, was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in1937, and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1941.
Ardell was united in marriage to Robert E. Kiehl on February 5, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Karl Schulz officiating. Robert preceded her in death on July 29, 1998.
Ardell retired from Lake to Lake Dairy in 1984 as an accounting clerk.
Ardell was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she attended Bible class and served on various committees, including being the secretary for the XYZ Club. She was an active member and former officer of the local AARP branch, and local AAL, Branch 1411. She was formerly a volunteer at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Maywood Environmental Park where she served as Treasurer of the Catalog Sales Committee.
Ardell loved her children and their families, friends and her dogs, Sugar and Pepper. Her interests included traveling to all 48 of the lower states, Canada, England and Italy, camping, attending live theatre and concerts, following the Milwaukee Brewers, playing bridge, knitting, doing needlepoint projects, flower gardening, and enjoying her many collections, including cows and cruets.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, an infant sister, an infant son Robert Steven, and a special cousin, Frederick Doering who was killed in WWII action in November of 1944.
Ardell is survived by her daughter Leslie M. (Robert) Day of Winneconne; sons Eric R. (Dianne) of Muskego, Kevin A. (Lori) of Sheboygan and Nathan B. of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Christopher) White of Woodbury, MN, R. Jason (Stacy) Day of Mequon, Stacia (Kristen) Kiehl of Brookfield, Adam Kiehl of Wauwatosa, Tanya (Beth) Kiehl of Beloit, Casey Kiehl (fiancé Amber Casper) of Plover, Christopher (Mindy) Kiehl of Green Bay and Heather Kiehl of Howards Grove; ten great-grandchildren: Ethan and Brandon Day, Ryan, Laken and Silas Kiehl, Everett, Josephine and Paxton Kiehl, Erika Rittenhouse and Alexander and Tyler Wendricks; brother-in-law Arthur (Mary) Kiehl of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1810 N. 13th Street in Sheboygan. Rev. Alan Kretschmar will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Ardell will be laid to rest beside Robert at Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul's.
