Andrew Staff

Andrew C. Staff, age 94, of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Meadow View Manor. He was born on May 16, 1923 in Maywood, IL to the late Andrew and Dorothy (Baerns) Staff. Andrew enlisted in the U.S. Army in January of 1943. He was a proud veteran of WWII where he served in the European Theatre, most significantly in the Battle of the Bulge, earning several decorations and citations. On September 8, 1951, he married Gladys May Erbstoesser at Holy Name Parish and they were married for 57 years. He was employed as a salesman for JJ Koepsell Co. until his retirement in June of 1988. Andrew was an avid golfer and active member of Riverdale Golf Club. He played in the WSGA Pater-Filius with his son Jeffrey for 36 years. He recorded 9 holes-in-one at Riverdale and shot his age on several occasions. Andrew joined his family on many golfing vacations, most recently playing 18 holes on his 94th birthday.

Andrew is survived by his son Jeffrey (Linda) Staff of Rothschild, WI; granddaughter, Jessica (Randy) Nixon of Chicago, IL; one great-grandson, Elijah Nixon; one brother, Leroy (Sylvia) Staff of Two Rivers, WI; one sister, Ruth Brandl of Spanish Fort, AL; two sisters-in-law, Georgiana Staff and Ella Staff, both of Sheboygan, and several nieces and nephews.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Anton Brandt, his wife Gladys, his brothers Henry and Edward Staff, and an infant sister Dorothy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 1 p.m. Holy Name Catholic Church, 818 Huron Ave, Sheboygan with Fr. Matthew Widder presiding. Friends may call at the church from 12 Noon until the time of the Mass. Andrew will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Calvary Cemetery immediately following Mass.

A memorial fund has been established in Andrew's name for The Camo Quilt Project in Plymouth, WI.
