Frederick E. Scheibl, 72, of Rhine Center, passed away Monday evening, June 16, 2008, at St. Nicholas Hospital.
Fritz was born November 18, 1935, in the town of Mosel to the late Martin and Minnie (Dickman) Scheibl. He graduated from Howards Grove High School in 1954. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1959, serving in France. On May 27, 1961, he married Joyce Meyer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove.
He was member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart Lake where he was a Past-President and served as an Elder.
A member of the Quarter Century Club, Fritz was employed by the Kohler Company in Pottery as a caster, for over 40 years, retiring in 1998. He played baseball with the Howards Grove Athletic Association, and many other area teams. He was also active with the Elkhart Lake Athletic Association, and a member of Howards Grove Veterans Post 9924. He enjoyed muskie fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, gardening, and spending time up north with his dog Dolly.
In addition to his wife Joyce of 47 years, Fritz is survived by his daughters Wendy Scheibl and special friend Bruce Manz of Howards Grove, Tammy (Tim) Zorn of Elkhart Lake, his sons Brian Scheibl of Plymouth, and Michael (Ann) Scheibl of Kiel. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew Zorn, Elizabeth, Isabella, and Olivia Scheibl, his brother Marvin (Shirley) Scheibl, his sister Ellen Wilhelms, and brother and sister-in-law Dan (Adrienne) Meyer. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law Isabelle (Reuben) Stuemke, Marion (Harvey) Wieland, his brothers and sisters-in-law Willard (Ann) Scheibl, Norman (Gertrude) Scheibl, and his brother-in-law Earl Wilhelms.
Funeral services for Fritz will be held Friday, June 20, 2008, at 6:30 P.M., at Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart Lake (210 N. Lincoln St. Hwy 67) The Reverend Thomas Fleischmann will officiate. Friends may call at church on Friday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service.
