Erna Kregel, 88, of 1618 N. 22nd Street, Sheboygan, passed away March 4, 2010 at a Milwaukee Nursing Home. Erna was born December 9, 1921 in Dodge County, the daughter of the late Battista and Appolonia Del Ponte. On June 1, 1946, she married William “Boots” Kregel at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. Erna was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, The Christian Women’s Society, The Catholic Women’s Charity Club, the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Mission Society and the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 9156. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, especially her fur teddy bears and lambs. She was employed at Nu-Way Drapery Service and Lakeland Manufacturing Company where she retired.
Erna is survived by her husband William, four sons and one daughter, William (Mary) Kregel, Whitefish Bay, James (Karen) Kregel, Grafton, Donna (Peter) Achs, Grayslake, IL, Thomas (Jenny) Kregel, Whitefish Bay and Robert (Krista) Kregel, Hubertus; twelve grandchildren, Billy (Katie), Matthew and Christopher Kregel, Michelle (Matt) Isakson. Timothy Kregel and Amanda (Jeff) Yunke, Jonathan and Jennifer Achs, Ben and Beth Kregel, and Laura and Anna Kregel; two twin great grandchildren, Jack and Owen Yunke; one sister, Anna Guse, Fond du Lac; two brothers, Victor Del Ponte, Campbellsport, Melvin (Rose Ann) Del Ponte, Campbellsport; and one sister-in-law, Regina Del Ponte, Washington C.H., Ohio. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Mary Marini and her triplet sisters, Caroline Johnston and Nella Del Ponte; and four brothers, Battista, Peter, Tranquillo and Dante Del Ponte
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6. 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Cyril and Methodius, 822 New Jersey Ave.,with the Rev. Glenn Powers officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment to follow at the Greendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
