Janet A. Brass, 77, of Town Herman, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at her residence.
Janet was born May 09, 1932 in Plymouth to the late Frank & Lillian (Stark) Biskobing. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950. On November 24, 1951 she married Elroy Brass, he preceded her in death December 11, 1997.
Janet was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Plymouth.
After taking over the Brass family homestead, Janet and Elroy farmed together for many years, but their passion in life was breeding and showing registered Belgian draft horses. Their home was filled with many trophies and ribbons they won with their horses at various state fairs over the years. Janet was a member of the Wis. Draft Horse Breeders and was secretary/treasurer for 21 years. She was also a member of the Belgian Draft Horse Corp. of America. She was inducted into the Wis. State Fair Hall of Fame as a horse breeder and show person. The whole family looked forward to the Thanksgiving dinner held at the family farm for many years. Janet was a fun loving person and even when her health was failing, she always tried to keep a positive attitude and smile. Her faith in God sustained her.
She is survived by her sister Doris Galbari, her brother Jim Biskobing, her sister-in-law Lucille Brass, and her brother-in-law & sister-in-law Archie & Dorothy Brass. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, special friends, Les & Chris Gannigan and family, and many other good friends who were there for her in her later years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Chuck Galbari and Eugene Brass; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Janet Thursday, February 25, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The Reverend Dennis Van Beek, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Friends may call on Thursday, at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow services at St. John’s Cemetery.
